I feel connected to animal sculpture, and as far as I'm concerned, birds of prey express the power of creation. I sculpted the white-headed eagle, which in real life has a wingspan of about 2 meters. It is a very powerful bird that can lift heavy weights and and at the same time there is something very quiet in its flight. This project is a metaphor for the infinite power of the Creator – on the one hand, we want to connect with His grace side, but we also know that He is the power of all forces.

In Bereshit, when Hashem make his pact with Avraham in Brit ben HaBetarim, the Passuk says (Chapter 15, Psukim 9-11): "And He said to him: Take for Me three heifers and three goats and three rams, and a turtle dove and a young bird. And he took for Him all these, and he divided them in the middle, and he placed each part opposite its mate, but he did not divide the birds. And the birds of prey descended upon the carcasses, and Abram drove them away."

Rabbi Mordechai Hochman interprets this verse: "The eagle who will live the carcasses – the Brit ben HaBetarim is explained in the words of the prophets and in the midrashim. The animals symbolize the workers of Moshiach ben Yosef, who help him in military and economic activity. The birds symbolize the workers with Mashiach ben David, who help him in spiritual and religious activity. And the 'eagle' symbolizes the house of David, who identifies Mashiach ben Yosef as "carcasses" – and stabs him.
