The Jewish people are compared to a tree whose roots are deeply rooted in the earth. Even

when branches are cut out from the tree, as we witnessed during the terrible Holocaust and the

assimilation, the power and merit of our previous generations continue to grant new life and

resurrection.

For example, several generations of Russian Jews assimilated during the communist rule, but

thanks to our ancestors, along with the help of Rabbis from Israel and the United States, there was

a resurrection and a return to Torah and Mitzvos for the Jews of the Soviet Union, who also founded

large Jewish families. Thanks to our ancestors, whose roots grant life to the tree, the tree will never

dry out
